Today’s dishwasher detergents are more sensitive to the environment but don’t have the chemicals needed to deal effectively with the hard water found in our area. Hard water build up, if left untreated, can clog up wash arms and other sensitive parts of your dishwasher. There are several good products on the market that clean hard water build up effectively. Good maintenance is a very important factor in reducing expensive repairs.

There are many “normal” repairs for dishwashers over their lifetime. It’s not unusual for door hinges, springs and door gaskets or seals to need replacement. Those types of dishwasher problems are minor repairs that can typically be resolved in just one visit.

We often hear from customers that “they don’t make them like they used to”. With normal use and good maintenance, dishwashers should last at about 15 years. Certainly, many appliances have become “more complicated” over the years as electronic computer boards and advanced features are becoming more and more commonplace.
